Christmas memories for my kids

After posting about how Christmas was so wonderful when I was a child, I decided to reflect back on how my children celebrated Christmas growing up in a small town. As I looked back on pictures, I came to the realization that they, too, will have many wonderful memories of their own Christmases.

For example, they were terrified by Santa

                                                 They decorated gingerbread cookies

                                                        and gingerbread houses.

                                                       They wrote letters to Santa

and read them to him

They made ornaments and used them to decorate the tree

Instead of caroling with just a few neighbors, they joined the whole community
walking down Main Street singing carols to watch the town's Christmas tree being illuminated

They went to the local Christmas parade and some years were even part of the parade.

Not to mention the Breakfasts with Santa, Deck the Halls fun, buying presents for family and friends without Mom's help at Santa's Secret Shoppe, making goodies for birds and other critters at the Gifts of Nature Workshop, and a whole bunch of other things that I am sure I have forgotten.

I was feeling so very lofty and thinking that my memories of Christmas were so much better than "kids these days". I think I will have to eat some crow, or at least some figgy pudding, and admit that  there still is a lot of holiday spirit and magic even today.
